The new PMBOK was released September 6th, 2017. One of the big changes was the addition of a new process step called Manage Project Knowledge. This step was added to the Execution process group and the Integration knowledge area. The idea behind managing project knowledge is to put an emphasis on capturing current knowledge and using past project knowledge for all projects. This new step was implied in the previous PMBOK but now has focus and direction. It asks PMs to document and update throughout the project and carefully distribute and store all project information. Managing knowledge is closely tied to lessons learned and historical information. This new step will certainly be the topic of a few new PMP exam questions.
